Term 3, 2026 Newsletter: week 2

Dear parents,

I've heard it said that growth comes outside of one's comfort zone. If this is true, there will be much growth this term amidst the large number of challenging events and activities. Representative athletics carnivals held this week and next, the Kinder 100 Days, Book Week, Science Week, Careers Night, Fathers Day Stall and the Festival of the Arts are just a sample of what is to come. 

Pride & Prejudice is testing its cast and crew, though not beyond limits, as is evidenced by the sometimes comedic, at other times evocative, but at all times inspiring performance of mostly understudies at yesterday evening's preview. Opening night and the weekend performances promise to be a tour de maître. (Ask the female lead for the translation.) And all four performances have sold out as a sign of the school's reputation for delivering ambitious plays and the community's thirst for beauty. 

For the first time in a while the Solemnity of St Mary MacKillop and the Gala Dinner coincide on 8th August. The staff/parent band (name:unknown) is back and a welcome feature indeed. Thank you to the large number of people and businesses that have contributed to the live and silent auctions, which are so much fun. I will see you at The Commercial Club on Saturday week.

At school, St Mary MacKillop Day will be held on Thursday 6th August to coincide with the visit of Fr Jomer Calma and the Wagga Wagga seminarians from Vianney College, who will address students on the topic of vocations and join with them in various "colonial" activities and sports. I'd like to express my thanks to the Serra Club for providing a BBQ lunch on the day.
