2025 Newsletter Term 2: week 2

Dear parents,

We awoke this morning to the glorious news that the papal conclave had reached its conclusion, electing Pope Leo XIV as the 267th Successor of St Peter. Vested in the red mozzetta and stole, the new pontiff was greeted by a jubilant and enormous crowd in St Peter's Square, the visibly infectious joy of Rome spreading quickly across the world.

Viva Leo XIV!

Speaking of Shepherds, the Church in Australia also has a new Bishop of Armidale. Congratulations to Bishop Murphy, members of his family and many dear friends who were able to be present. The good people of Armidale will be thanking God for his mercy that a man of Bishop Murphy's calibre has been appointed to be their shepherd.

The new school building works continue at a pace: retaining walls are in place, to be followed in the next few weeks by the establishment of pins on which the six new buildings will be positioned. Those buildings will arrive throughout the month of June in 19 modular components that will be bolted together. The works parents can see at the front of the school and near the church are for electrical and water infrastructure.

Please keep Year 11&12 students in your prayers next week as they head to Sydney for what is really a spiritual pilgrimage, visiting the tombs of St Mary MacKillop, Servant of God Eileen O'Connor and Cardinal Pell. Each of these visits are prayerful and aimed at students growing a friendship with these Catholic heroes.

Thank you for your support.

Warm regards,

Ian Smith

Principal
