2025 Newsletter Term 2: week 4

Dear parents,

Cut to the heart, the first converts of the church numbered a colossal 3000. This was day one, Pentecost Day, when the promised Holy Spirit was received by Mary, the Apostles and all were open to God's grace. Entering into the cenacle for nine days of preparation, they and the mission of the Church were set alight by the Holy Spirit.

I would like to invite you and every family to enter the cenacle at the Pentecost Novena, which will be held at St Mary's Church, Jindera this Thursday 29th May at 7.00pm. It will be a beautiful evening of readings, prayer and soaring sacred music to begin the 9-day pilgrimage to Pentecost.

Thank you for keeping Year 11&12 in your prayers for their pilgrimage to Sydney, which was held last week. Praying at the tombs of St Mary MacKillop, Servant of God Eileen O'Connor and Cardinal Pell, where we sang the Regina Caeli in the St Mary's Cathedral crypt, was particularly moving. An 8 ¼ hour trip home, in contrast to the 6 ½ hours getting there, reminded us that it was a pilgrimage.

Congratulations to St John Bosco for taking out yesterday's House Athletics Carnival in what was an incredibly close encounter with St Francis of Assisi. It was an historic victory and Bosco's first since 2016. Great job team. And thank you to the many mums and dads who helped to run events for the day. It could not be accomplished without you.

Thank you for your support.

Warm regards,

Ian Smith

Principal
