Term 1, 2026 Newsletter: week 10

Dear parents,

Everywhere I turn, it's Michelle Milthorpe. When I catch up on some news on YouTube, there she is again. We don't get a residential postal service in Jindera, but that's not stopping Michelle Milthorpe. When I unlock the parcel compartment of the letterbox, I half expect to see her jump out to hand me a flyer.

The Farrer by-election feels quite different to a general election, which tends to be marked by the de facto presidentialisation we are long accustomed to. The focus this time is narrower and the contest among the candidates is less about the party and more about the candidates' personalities; less cordial too and more willing. And yet, I suspect that the more things change in this sphere of civic life, the more they stay the same.

What has changed at school this year and most assuredly has not remained the same is the enhancement to the College facilities and grounds in the form of the Bishop Brennan Wing and grassed areas. The rear playing field will be fenced next term to allow free play during lunchtime, adding even greater value. As an aside, there is an improvement in the dropping of litter this year, perhaps to underline the value students are seeing in the beauty and functionality of the College grounds.

I am most grateful to the mums who attended this year's Mother Daughter Camp along with their daughters. The camps remain an integral component of College life, galvanising the community and sharing the key messages of our Catholic faith. That their timing heralds the most intense period of the Church's year seems providential

214 appointments were made by parents to meet with teachers at Parent Teacher Interviews on Tuesday, up on semester 2 in 2025. The teachers really appreciate the opportunity to update parents on their children's progress and get to know families better. Thank you for your participation in that opportunity.

Thank you, indeed, for your support throughout term 1. May the Holy Triduum lift your soul at the beginning of a restoring Eastertide break. See you next term!

Warm regards,

Ian Smith

Principal
